Red Chile Jackfruit Tamales

Delicious vegan tamales filled with savory red chile sauce and jackfruit, perfect for a comforting meal or celebration.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups masa harina
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 1 cup red chile sauce
  • 1 cup cooked jackfruit, shredded
  • 1/2 cup vegan butter, softened
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Corn husks, soaked in warm water

Instructions:

In a large mixing bowl, combine masa harina, vegetable broth, red chile sauce, vegan butter, baking powder, and salt

Mix until a smooth dough forms

Spread masa dough evenly onto soaked corn husks, leaving space at the top and sides

Place shredded jackfruit along the center of the masa dough

Fold the sides of the corn husks towards the center, enclosing the filling, and fold up the bottom

Place tamales seam side down in a steamer basket

Steam tamales for 45-60 minutes, or until masa is cooked through and firm

Serve warm and enjoy
